MMA FOR SELF-DEFENSE

Mixed Martial Arts has been a curious concept in the United States since 1993, when the Ultimate Fighting Championship started as a professional contest to see which martial arts style was the best. Over 25 years later, Mixed Martial Arts is now a seamless system of the best martial arts moves used in combination as the most effective unarmed form of human combat in the world. What makes MMA so effective for self-defense is that it allows you to use high level striking and grappling techniques, the best-known technology for disabling one or more attackers. MMA techniques also allow you to shut down an attacker’s strikes or attempts to grab you to gain control. This class is for people who would like to practice effective self-defense, learn how to perform the techniques of Muay Thai kickboxing, and perhaps learn something new and interesting. Although we certainly will accept those interested in competing in MMA events, this class is for regular people of all ability levels.
Our program was designed by Brian Cowin, combining what he has learned working some of the most dangerous jobs, experiencing self-defense situations first hand—often on the same days he was training and coaching MMA. Our veteran MMA coaches and kickboxing instructors are student focused. For an interesting and effective training experience, come try our program MMA for self-defense!
