Stop the Bleed® Critical Trauma Care
In today’s age, learning how to evaluate and manage traumatic injury is as vital a life skill as CPR. What we have learned from Sandy Hook, the Boston Marathon Bombing, the Pulse Night Club, Las Vegas, and so many other tragic events is this: in critical incidents there will be bystanders and the bystanders will want to help... but do you know HOW?
Whether keeping loved ones alive in a car accident or managing victims of an active shooting, it has been proven that having the right tools, knowing how to use them, or knowing how to improvise often makes the difference between life and death.
This program is not intended to teach you how to be an EMT, nor is it the objective to subject you to unnecessary gore. Rather, it is intended to familiarize you with modern life saving tools – such as tourniquets, pressure dressings, hemostatic agents, and chest seals – and teach you how to use them, while debunking common myths that cause hesitation and failure under duress. The goal is to educate on how to keep injured people alive until paramedic rescue arrives.
NOTE: We culminate this class with realistic scenario drills in which the participants will practice the skills learned with live actors. This is designed to produce a moderate stress response to begin the stress inoculation process for such situations. Additionally, simulated blood and injuries are used, and your clothing and skin WILL be in contact with the simulated blood, and possibly stained. Please bring a change of clothes if you plan to shower at the facility upon completion (shower gel and towels are provided at INPAX Academy HQ).
